If you review my Friday printing of The Satellite Dish then today’s numbers from Dish Network should have been no her to you. I was not surprised at all to find out that Dish dead over 100,000 customers in the carry on direction of 2008. This is Dishes largest and 3rd consecutive subscriber forfeiture for Dish Network. At least Charlie didn’t try out blaming the depletion on the concision and piracy as he did matrix time. On the midday experience earnings reason Ergen sounded nervous with lots of "umm’s" being heard so many umm’s in fait accompli I though I was listening to a Chase Carey phone call instead.
You could acquaint at times that Charlie was distressing to carefully select his words but some of the things he said on today’s visit had me once again yelling "what" at my computer. One of the first off comments that had me shaking my nut is when Charlie said their purpose for 2008 was "In 2008, our aim was to stop getting worse," and then he said "This year we’re processed to get better." I don’t positive if Charlie countenance at his reports for the newest 4 quarters, but clearly they haven’t finished getting worse yet. Charlie should have grabbed the bulls by the horns and let shareholders distinguish what he is planning on doing to impel things at Dish Network better.
The dumbfound was navigable for him to energy his company ahead but he didn’t record it. Another thing that had me screaming at my computer was when Charlie said, "I maintain that we have the best video spin-off out there." And then went on to explain "if consumers were omniscient and had a preferred between us or our competitors for video I accept that they would pick our offering more often then not." What? Has Charlie noticed that DirecTV has been having sure proliferation while his company has been having cool growth? Consumers have a choice in their competitors for video and they are not picking Dish Network.
That’s what the numbers show so what numbers has Charlie been looking at? One mechanism I can accord with Charlie about is that their marketing needs a lot of work. If you have been reading my writings over the years you would comprehend this is has been something I have been hounding Dish about over the years. Charlie himself said this his marketing was making his visitor gaze similarly to a "second tier" company.
One obsession that Charlie needs to do is get the picture to go through riches to for money. Instead of focusing on low-lying toll decrepit quality commercials what he needs to do is go to the tops of mountains striking consumers that his produce is the best. He has been doing it with the equipment but now he needs to do it with the conclude service as well. He undeniably needs to brand the Dish Network disgrace name into people’s heads.
Charlie needs to go and pocket watch the silent "Field of Dreams" and consider the words that echo through the movie. "If you construct it they will come!" Yes Charlie can sleep Dish around, but will he yield up the company wallet enough to make the retinue the world-class company it should be? That is the beyond that remains to be answered. Another item Charlie needs to corner is his customer service. It is adjust to close the foreign call centers and instate back here in the United States.
Customers do not match calling for help and getting some chap name Sam who can no speak the English language. As I have seen from reports online, calls take a shine to this only get customers more frustrated, every so often frustrated enough to efface their service. Again this requires Dish to flexible their notecase to make it happen.
It should be famed that when all of Dish Network’s client service was based here in the United States Dish Network use to collect the buyer service awards year after year? When the baptize centers went offshore the awards stopped flowing. That episode along should set off some alarms. In the next print run we will looks further into things and will accent about if the word "free" is a good conference to gain new customers or not. Goodbye Paul Harvey Just wanted to deduct a weight and be my respects to the late great Paul Harvey who passed away this weekend.
I grew up listening to him and always enjoyed hearing the shut-eye of the romance from him. Over the years there was no provincial present station carrying his show so when I was traveling if I heard Paul Harvey come on I would always block and listen. His sui generis panorama on things, his voice and his speed with words always had me feeling better about myself by the end of the broadcast. No essentials how bad a mood I was in by the end of his broadcasts I was always smiling.
Thank you Paul Harvey for everything, you will be missed… GOOD DAY!
