Before Wednesday's game, Mariners Manager Don Wakamatsu announced that 22 year trouper Ken Griffey Jr. is retiring. Griffey ranks fifth on baseball's all-time retreat reach list. His 630 pursuit bombs tag along only Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth and Willie Mays on the all-time list. He also drove in over 1800 job runs.
Griffey won the American League Most Valuable Player Award in 1997. During that ripen he hit.304 with 56 internal runs and 147 RBI.
The certain inferno Hall of Famer also won Gold Gloves every year in the 1990's finishing his work with ten. His inception to the quick kill came against Eric King of the Chicago White Sox on April 10, 1989, with army 630 coming off of Tommy Hunter of the Texas Rangers more than two decades later on October 3, 2009.
