From Cars to comedy to Batman, Michael Caine is to each News.

It’s the summer of Michael Caine. First, in Pixar’s “Cars 2,” debut next Friday, he voices the different attribute Finn McMissile, a British wonderful spy. Next, he doesn’t literally appear in the indie comedy “The Trip” (July 22), but he’s reportedly the best part: Co-stars Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon sit on to one-up each other with their Michael Caine impressions. (Watch the trailer at Kansas City.com/movies.) And this week, Caine, aka Alfred the butler, began shooting his scenes in “The Dark Knight Rises,” due in theaters in July 2012.

Fanning the flames Did you lady-love Dakota Fanning in “Super 8”? Oh wait, that was her negligible sister, Elle. On the quest “Troll Hunter,” a minuscule Norwegian thriller, is creating such a stir that it’s getting an American version. In Andre Ovredal’s original, students study a series of tote killings, only to be taught that those aren’t bears at all. Watch it on Video on Demand now or at the Screenland Crossroads starting July 22.

Chris Columbus’ shaping companions has the remake rights. Box workplace update Last week we reported that “Fast Five” was the foremost skin of 2011 to crown $200 million at the slug office. Now two more movies have leaped beyond it. “The Hangover Part II” is now the year’s top-grossing movie, hitting $215 million over the weekend, followed by “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” with $208 million.

But you can anticipate “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” to go them all after its debut June 29.
